A person of the time of the Great Wars, the time when some say the term “feminism” was first used in US widely, might be as surprised by the feats of a modern woman as he is by the latest technology. From changes in attitude, outlook, and behaviour, to a complete overhaul of attire and fashion statement, feminist movements across the world have changed both men and women for good. As the movement kept changing our society, the movement itself changed to cater to the evolving demands, going from basic rights like education to bolder egalitarian claims like combat roles in defence forces. And like most movements, each challenge to established norm was opposed by the orthodox. But unlike many movements feminism has managed to stir up such controversy, that many of the sect that the movement seeks to uplift, i.e. women themselves, choose to distance themselves from it.
